What are the responsibilities of an individual who is certified to Penetrant Level 2?
A professional certified to Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) Level 2 has proven their capability to perform Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) in compliance with established UT procedures. Within the scope of competence outlined on their certification, Level 2 personnel may be authorized by their employer to:
- Select the appropriate Penetrant Testing technique for the test method to be applied.
- Define the limitations and scope of the testing method's application.
- Convert NDT codes, standards, specifications, and procedures into practical NDT instructions tailored to the actual working conditions.
- Set up and verify equipment settings to ensure proper functionality.
- Perform and oversee Penetrant tests.
- Interpret and evaluate results in accordance with applicable standards, codes, specifications, or procedures.
- Prepare detailed written instructions for Penetrant Testing.
- Carry out and supervise all tasks within or below Level 2 certification.
- Provide guidance and support to personnel at or below Level 2 certification.
- Document and report the results of Penetrant Testing.
